Time with Grandma Terri

Monday was Presidents' Day, so Daddy and I got to spend some quality time together since we both had the day off. It rained or was pretty yucky all week so I had to spend a lot of time inside. Dad left for work in Maryland Tuesday - Friday, so it was Mommy and me for a day or so then Grandma Terri came to help us out! Tuesday, James, Randall and David kept us company with Pizza. Wednesday, Grandma picked me up from daycare and alas I had a fever. Such a bummer, for most of her visit I was pretty miserable. Mom did get out while I hung with Grandma on Wednesday to celebrate Cascade's birthday. In spite of Grandma's ministrations my fever wouldn't go away, so we visited the Doctor's office and I was diagnosed with an ear infection. Man those hurt. Made me pretty grumpy for the next few days and I turned into quite the mama's boy. After starting the antibiotics, I started feeling better and would do some walking and playing around the house lots more. So... a big THANK YOU to grandma for taking such good care of me and Mom this week. Daddy got home this weekend. His first night home I was trouble... since I still wasn't feeling so well, I wanted to make sure he knew all about it. In the end, Mom and I slept on the recliner for most of the night. He helped Mommy with some formatting for her dissertation on Saturday, and on Sunday, after a much better night sleep, we finally got out of the house. We visited Great-Auntie Gigi, Great-Uncle Dudley, Cousins Jason, Ann and Kaylee. Had a fantastic lunch... it was so nice to see them, it had been a while. Lunch was great Chinese food for Chinese New Year (happy year of the Pig). I had tons of fun playing in G'Auntie Gigi's kitchen and with all of her toys. Kaylee was super great and was showing me all sorts of tricks on her toys. We finished up the evening watching some of the Academy Awards with Suzanne and Keith. We brought Scooter to maximize mayhem at their house. Plus Caden, Matt and Cascade showed up as well, so I got a playmate close to my age. We discussed the dresses and all of the movies we haven't seen. Though we had to get home for my bath before the announcement, The Departed won best picture (Grandpa Tom really liked it too), Helen Mirren won best actress for The Queen and Forest Whitaker won Best Actor from Last King of Scotland, apparently some sort of royalty theme... all movies we haven't seen (yet).

A red letter week

Double fun this week... Happy Valentine's Day and Happy Chinese New Year!
Fun fun fun... On Tuesday, we had Pizza with Matt, Cascade and Caden. It was fun to play with Caden and the busy ball bopper, and to show off all of my new mobility.
Valentine's Day was nice. Daddy cooked a fantastic dinner of roast duck, wild rice and beans... I particularly loved the wild rice. Folks at daycare gave me valentines, which was super nice, and I got to try my hand at crafts for the first time. I helped Lisa make a valentine for Mommy and Alana helped me color. Our big faux-pas was forgetting to bring in valentines for every one else... so embarassing! Hopefully they'll give me a pass for my first v-day with the other kids.
Saturday was a fun pizza dinner with the Stachowicz lab at Randall, David and James's place to woo a prospective student. I did my best! Sunday, Mom was at work while Dad and I went went to a fishing show with Naoaki and Jim. We had a great time, I got to try kayaking! Even better, it was Chinese New Year... Gung Hay Fat Choy! I tried really hard to say it right... maybe next year. Anyhow, on our way home, we picked up some Chinese cuisine and celebrated a little with James and his folks. The food was pretty good but the company was great!
Man, I love pomelos! Today, I hung out with Dad again, I was supposed to catch the Tour of California bike race as it went through Occidental, but it sadly coincided with nap time. So we just played out on the deck a lot, since the weather was so nice. I've really taken to Mom's BML hat... I love wearing it, I think it looks cute!

Attack of the 50-foot Toddler!!!

Watch out! Here I come!!! I think this much walking around tags me officially as a toddler. Bye Bye baby-hood.Walking is lots and lots of fun. I just can't get enough!
Well, it finally stopped raining for a bit. Thank goodness 'cause we went into SF to visit with Grandma Terri, Grandpa Tom and a bunch of family friends... the VanVolkinburgs and the McGanns and we wanted to walk around! It was a beautiful day, and was fun to see them for breakfast. I got to walk around a lot at the restaurant.
Afterwards, Mom, Dad and I walked to China town and through a big flower festival. Not nearly as many flowers as you would expect, but it was still pretty cool to cruise through the sea of humanity.
The folks shopped and ate lunch while I napped. A great day outside. The weather was perfect, my folks got some shopping done, and I got to play in the park with lots of other kids.
Friday, we met with Caden and Cascade for some Mexican food. Cascade made some yummy cookies that we had for dessert at their house. I was pretty tired from a long day of running around, so didn't make it quite to my normal bedtime before insisting that I had to get to bed.
Saturday, Daddy made some chili crab to share with Jim, Jess and Jenna of the farmhouse gang. Jim and Jess were great company and kept me busy reading and playing with my shape matching box while Dad cooked.
All in all it's been a really nice weekend in spite of the rain, which kept us inside all week... thank goodness for sunny Sundays and visits with friends.

Superbowl

I've been working on my walking... it's kind-of a on again off again sort of situation right now, but when I do get going, I'm so pleased.,.. especially if it helps me chase after Scooter.
After a pretty mellow week / weekend we went to the farmhouse to watch the Superbowl. In addition to fun people to play with there was lots of good chow... I ate lots of fish! I was kinda rooting for the bears, just 'cause Mom was born in the area. Oh well, we didn't really follow football anyhow.
However, I can't wait for March Madness right around the corner. I think I'm shaping up to be more of a basket-ball sort of kid.... I love basket-balls. Uncle Ry gave me a plush one that I really like, though the real thing is a lot more work to chase around.
