Hello Michigan!

After a fun-filled day in New York, we hopped on another plane to go to Michigan to visit my Great-Grandpa Em , Great-Auntie Ann, Cousins Katie and Jay and Adam! All were super nice and lots of fun. Monday night, Great-Grandpa picked us up and when we got to his home, Katie and Adam were there with Pizza! I got to play with their super sweet and super soft dog Onyx. Thank goodness everyone has puppies to keep me occupied.
The next day, we headed over to Great-Auntie Ann's house. I had a great time because it had really started to get hot and steamy, but we got to go in the neighbor's pool! I had a blast, more fun than I have ever had in water (that wasn't my bath). I kicked, floated a little bit and splashed lots!
She also had some cute dogs (Wolf and Chloe) who were very sweet with me. Jay came home early so we could hang out a little bit after lunch. It was nice to see him too!
After we got home, Great-Grandpa and I had snacks together, really I ate most of his, but we hung out and talked about what a nice day we had.
That night Grandpa had made some Tilapia for us for dinner, it was delish! He also kindly shared lots of his strawberry shortcake with me.
Katie, Adam and Onyx were there too so we had quite the party. I loved seeing them, they're so nice.
On our last day of vacation, we went on a nice walk with Great-Grandpa around his neighborhood, then played in his yard. I attacked his really pretty flowers. They were just so bright and hard to resist.
After a little rest. Mom, Great-Grandpa and I went over to G'Grandpa's church to see where Great-Grandma Jean is and a nice bench that is dedicated to her. It was a beautiful church with amazing gardens that I got to explore.
After that, we pretty much packed up and headed out to the airport. We hit a bit of traffic, but made it there in the nick of time. The flight home was pretty much like the flight out. About three hours of me playing, eating and fighting off sleep, and two hours or so of sleep. This time we got our own row so at least I could stretch out a little bit better.

Home at last. I loved traveling and visiting and getting all sorts of love and attention from my family, but it is nice to be home too. We have been taking things pretty easy this weekend... ran a few errands yesterday (Mom dragged me to a fabric store... not bad, lots to touch) then met Caden and Cascade in the park for an hour or so of romping around. Today, Daddy and I went over to visit James and his folks. Daddy and David took me to their pool, I had a blast... I kicked, blew bubbles, I had fun even when daddy dunked me. David, Randall and James came over for Nachos tonight. It was a nice end to the weekend. James was showing off his crawling and smiling all night. He charmed the pants off of Scooter couldn't resist showering the poor guy in kisses.
We had so much fun I was wired for a little bit before crashing pretty hard for a well earned night's rest.

Hello New York!

Last night we got back from a big family vacation to Wolcott (NY) then to Detroit (MI). The first question Mom and Dad seem to get is "How did he (I) do on the plane?"... well, as expected they just try to keep me cooped up in a seat too long and too late at night, but I did manage to sleep a few hours both on the way out and on the way back (after being stuffed silly with all of the food they brought and rolling around for a few hours).

Anyhow... we took off last Wednesday at 12:30 AM... yep, a red-eye. We arrived at Grandma and Grandpa Steves'. It was nice to run around in their huge yard and I love their Molly-dog. Daddy napped a bit, then we enjoyed a yummy steak dinner. Thursday, Friday and Saturday Dad and Grandpa went fishing while Mom, Grandma and I hung out for part of the day. We spent our time together playing in the yard, with all of the fun toys at grandma's house, blowing bubbles (lots), chasing the dog and just enjoying the lovely days. This is me and a japanes maple that the grandfolks planted when my folks got married... and then with Grandpa's fancy firetruck.

Thursday, I slept in, we walked to see Great Grandma Steves, I had a huge nap, then when the fellas got back we had a fish fry. Friday we scoped out Duck Lake first thing in the morning to see what it looked like for fishing. Grandma, Mom and I stopped off at the Mennonite shop on the way back. After Grandpa and Dad got back from fishing, I got to play with their net! I really took a liking to netting things... Daddy, Grandpa, etc...
That evening, we ate at a great Mexican restaurant then went out and Grandma got me a cool ball and we visited bass pro shop to pick out a fish finder for Grandpa (I liked the fish). Saturday, we went to Aunt Tami and Uncle Eddie's house for dinner while the grandfolk were at a wedding. I met their cute dog Polar Bear, played in their yard, the grown-ups had a fantastic dinner of lamb and veggie kebobs and strawberry shortcake, but there was too much to do for me to settle and eat. We finished up with a lovely walk on the Erie canal.

Sunday was also super fun. During my nap, Grandma watched me while Mom got to join Dad and Grandpa for a fishing trip. Mom got lots of fish (well, more than the guys) so she was pretty happy. They came back after my nap and they picked me up for a quick tour of the bay. Heck, I even got to net a fish (like I said... love that net). I really had a great time! That afternoon, Tami and Eddie came up and the five of us (+Mom, Dad and I) walked up to the Ice cream stand and got a snack (If you can call a HUGE cone of frozen custard a snack). Hey, do you like my cap? Grandpa Steves gave it to me; it fits well, I love to wear it and it's a genuine antique hat, and looks great on!
Then we headed over to visit Great-grandma Steves. It was nice to see her and Uncle Rich and the woodchucks that live under her deck.
We finished off with a short hike down to Wolcott falls. They just jazzed up the overlook and put some lights on the falls recently, but I like them either way.
Monday, was all about m-o-i, though I think everyone had a good time. Grandma and Grandpa took us to the Museum of Play, which houses the National Toy Hall of Fame and a fun butterfly exhibit. Daddy really liked all of the chrysalises on display, with a few emerging butterflies and moths.
The "play" part was great! There was so much to do, though I almost didn't get out of the sandbox (one of my favorite activities). One of the highlights included a mini wegmans (grocery store), I picked out some carrots and cheese, then checked myself out (If only Great-Grandpa Jerry had seen me working the cash register like a pro!). There was also a sesame street section where I could actually dance and be on TV with Elmo while we did the alphabet. I have a book with him in it so I showed him how I was "Soooo BIG!" too.
After spending all morning playing, we met up with Aunt Tami for a super yummy lunch at the Dinosaur BBQ. We then went to Great-Aunt Ethel and G'Uncle Butch's house on Black Crick. Aunt Ethel was great, she showed me how to throw rocks into the water and splash people! G'Aunt Lou (who got splashed) and G'Uncle Geary were also there so it was fun to chat with them too.
After a short visit, we headed to the airport to go visit my Great-Grandpa Em and more Cousins and another Auntie! Stay tuned for part II of my fantastic adventure... "Hello Michigan!"

Daddy rocks!!

I sure feel like a lucky kid to have a daddy this great. This week was relatively mellow, had a nice pizza night with my pals James, Caden and their families, including James' Grandma Lil. She's super nice, I got to visit with her a few times this week. Thursday, was my day with Mommy, we ran errands and I got a haircut! I was so good and patient, we enjoyed a burrito next door and I charmed all of the gruff fellas taking their lunch. That evening I hung out with the guys for a bit while Mommy visited with her girlfriends. Friday was fun, I came home and remembered that the Occidental Farmer's market opened that evening. I ran around a lot, picked out some flowers for Mommy, and danced to the band. Saturday I had a pretty good day. Daddy went abalone diving, so I mostly hung out with mom in the morning, painted a bit (had to get a quick bath afterwards) and worked in the garden during a nice cool respite from the past several hot days. Today was a big day... It's Father's day!! Mom and I picked Daddy out a drill on Thursday, I think he liked it. He was a bit silly though and spent all of his attention at the stuff on the inside while just leaving the box behind. I love that box, not only is a great outfit but it is a pretty comfy pillow too! We had a nice mellow morning, blintzes for breakfast followed by a nice hike in the Grove of the Old Trees, up in the hills here. We had a great time... the woods were pretty, I got to ride in the backpack carrier and there were tons of sticks and trees, which I love. We rounded off a great day with dinner shared at Suzanne's, I always have fun at their house, but this time I got to watch David and Randall Hulla-hoop! Randall was pretty good, and I think with some practice David could get it too!

Whale Rider

I hope everyone had as nice of a week as I did! I got to ride a whale at the refurbished park near Caden's house! Well, to back up a little bit, we continued our tradition of super play date and Tuesday pizza night with James and Caden and their folks. It's getting increasingly fun for me as the others are getting increasingly mobile. Thursday, I got to hang out with Mommy who has started taking that day off to play with me. We went to the park, walked around Sebastopol, colored... had a lovely day. That evening I got to eat some delish black and blueberry crumble at Caden's house to welcome some folks into the lab, including my ol' pal Emily who's back from the east coast. Friday, we went to Ace for some ale, well, I went for the company and the cool fountain. It was super nice to see Suzanne and Keith and to help my bud James celebrate his 8 month birthday! Of course it wasn't until this weekend that the folks decided to pull out the ol' camera, but it was worth it for our day trip up to Fort Bragg. We went to this cool place called Glass Beach. It has an unglamorous history of being an old dump, but now it's all sparkly smooth seaglass. The pictures can't really capture all of the glass... but it's probably at least 80%. I had a blast, though would enjoy any beach. I touched sea anemones, limpets, chitons, seaweed and tossed several snails back into the water. I particularly liked finding a little cave, then YELLING at all of the critters in it before poking each one. Mostly I just like raking, running and trying to get wet (I made it once or twice before Mom and Dad caught up). We headed home after some good beach time, but made a stop for icecream in Mendocino. Mmmm I love icecream!! Today was pretty nice too. I hung with Mommy again 'cause Daddy had a fishing tourney down in Half Moon Bay. He caught a big Cabezon that we ate for dinner (finishing in 6th). Mommy and I ran errands, played in the park (where I caught a ride with the whale) and went down the slide a million times. I love slides. In the afternoon, we walked around downtown Sebastopol and stopped by to visit James, David, Randall and Mrs. Hughes who is visiting this week!
This picture's for you Auntie Tami... from the car window on the way home... cows enjoying the view.

Soccer, splashing and sunshine

A much quieter week, but still a lovely one. Tuesday, Mommy and I watched Daddy play Soccer with the BMSA group. He scored a goal, but has spent the rest of the week paying for it. He's walkin' pretty funny... that's him running in the background.Friday night I got to hang out with Daddy, James, David and Keith while the ladies enjoyed a cocktail hour (or two!). Well, we had a good time too, plus I got to stop by and see Gage when they were all done. Saturday we got to see Kellen, Uncle Derek and Aunt Debbie again before they left for New York. Kaylee practiced her photography and shot the above picture. Clark dozed, Kellen got a new haircut and played in the pool. Kaylee and I had another fun pool afternoon. That is until I slipped and bonked my head pretty good. I still wanted to play, but didn't want to get in the water, so I just helped Kellen a bit. That evening we got to visit with Caden and his folks. Dad cooked up Jai, a chinese dish with lots of reconstituted ingredients. Caden and I had fun taunting Scooter across the fence. Today, was nice, sunny. Mommy and I walked around Sebastopol and the farmer's market while Daddy went fishing. He caught a lot and brought a few home... I'm not sure what I think of them. We had a fun afternoon with James and his folks at the park before heading home to enjoy daddy's fish. It was great!
