beachy-keen

Largely a quiet week for me, but my folks are getting all worked up about finding a home up in Portland. We leave tomorrow morning, so spent tried to relax a little yesterday and today. With Daddy's birthday quickly approaching, David, Randall and James coordinated an awesome tour of Daddy's favorite brewery...Lagunitas. We did a tour last year around this time with the whole lab, but this was a little mellower. It was so great! It gave the folks a chance to relax a little bit and enjoy some reportedly good beers! We all went out to grab burritos. Of course for this fun outing, my folks didn't bring a camera, so if we can grab a picture from James's family we'll post it! Today was pretty cool for the most part. Mom and Randall did Yoga in the morning, while Daddy and I worked in the mines... nah, he just let me borrow his headlamp. You may note the little ball and the ring in my left hand... my two current absolutely favorite toys, I basically haul them around constantly when I'm at home these days.
After Yoga, the guys and I joined them for a bagel at the Cup o' Mud. After a quick visit with Suzi, we headed to Salmon Creek beach fun fun in the... well, overcast morning. It was super fun. James and I buried our feet in the sand, played musical shoes, and identified kelp. I loved the water and would run top speed right in. Mom and Dad would have to run to keep up with me and save me from the waves. While I was busy getting pretty wet, James tried out his Dad's surfboard... I think he maybe was getting the hang of it! We had a great morning until mommy was in a wee fender bender... no injuries no major damages, but it kinda sullied an otherwise great day. But since everyone was okay, we'll end on a brighter note... we take off tomorrow early in the morning for Portland! Yay a road trip! I'll let you know how things go!

Hangin' with James!

We enjoyed our traditional pizza on Tuesday with Davis, Randall and James. Wednesday we went to the new Himalayan restaurant in Sebastopol with the whole Stachowicz lab! It was pretty fun, I amused our half of the table with magic tricks (make my hand dissappear) and showing off the rest of my skills. Thursday was super fun... Mommy and I went to the SF Zoo with James, Randall, David and James' Auntie Juila who is in town visiting. James' folks were particularly nice helping Mommy wrangle me... I was pretty excited. We had sooo much fun. I particularly liked the chimps. Friday was the Occidental Farmer's market. I was a little bit of trouble when we first walked down to the market, I was just hungry but made a bit of a stink at the flower stall. Let's just say Mommy had to purchase more flowers than she had intended and took me home but was a little irked at me. It was the first time that I really noticed she was upset and asked for forgiveness with hugs and kisses. After lots of love, we went back down and enjoyed some great music and Mom shared one of Lata's samosas and a smoothie with me. Saturday, Daddy went fishing so I hung around at home and in town with Mommy. We had a nice morning, but everyone had fun after my nap. We all went to meet up with James, David, Randall and Julia to do a little bit of wine tasting. We stopped at Lynmar and Dutton... Both were beautiful and had nice outside space to play in. We completed a beautiful afternoon with a yummy cook-out with James and his family. There was some wonderful cornstuff, porkloin and tomato cucumber salad! This is James's super excited face with the super excited clenched fists! Man, we love hanging out with James and his family... 'cause we met them at the Sebastopol Farmers' market on Saturday to play in the fountain and pick up some peaches, then headed over to Morten Warm Springs for the BML picnic! Such a great afternoon of food, egg-toss and the POOL! Love swimin' ... Daddy and I showed off some cool tricks... it was tough to leave. I also want to wish Great-Grandpa Jerry a very HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY! We're sending you birthday wishes and lots of Love. I have been working on my happy birthday song, but got a little shy on the phone.

Fun with Daddy and a visit from the Grandfolks!

I LOVE making the bed! When I help, it takes twice as long but is lots more fun!

This week, us fellas got to hang out together while Mommy was at the Ecological Society of America meeting. Daddy and I had a great time. He let me try all sorts of interesting foods; tater-tots and english muffin pizzas. We did really well and had lots of fun... I learned the sign for fish and that cows go moo! I also wanted to show off the picture that I painted with Caden last week... I tried to explain the significance of the big blue brush strokes, but even though she was smiling and hung it up, I don't think she really understands my art. I am definitely developing my personal style.

This weekend was pretty special as well... Grandma Terri and Grandpa Tom came out for a visit! We had a quiet Saturday with them, capped off with a super yummy dinner at Bistro de Copins (where I charmed all of the tables around us). Sunday, Daddy went to get some abalone with Keith. The grandfolks, Mommy and I headed to Sebastopol to go to the Farmers' Market. We followed up shopping for peaches with the Gravenstein Apple Fair. We had such fun! There were lots of animals, including a cow! Grandpa and I successfully navigated the hay maze! I thought that was particularly fun. I also really thought the Love Choir was captivating.... Grandma and I watched them do some beatles tunes. I was pretty beat by the end of the morning, so after a great lunch I took a great long nap. I bade farewell to our skink Waldo. Grandpa and Grandma took him to a herpetologist friend who would give him the attention and care he deserves. It was so nice to see my Grandfolks we had a fun weekend, plus I got all sorts of treats... grapes, blueberries, bites of their dessert, tons of play time and a grandpa to take me for a walk whenever I wanted!

Farewells and fishes

This week, we wished Caden, Cascade and Matt happy travels to and good luck on their move to Massachusetts. We will miss having them here, but know they will have a lovely time in their new home. To commemorate their trip, we had a great Tuesday night pizza dinner with Champagne! It was also (the day before) Randall's birthday, so we had cake with berries and cream. I even tried to sing "Happy Birthday" to her, but got a little shy. Thursday we went over to Caden's house to see all of the boxes, to do a little painting, cleaning-up and eating! We took a little break to go to James' house so we could see Mommy and her coworkers on the news that night talking about the green crabs they work on! Cormac came as well with his folks Tessa and Brian. I hadn't seen him in a while, and he sure is getting big!I played with Emily and Kristen while my folks were running around. Kristen read Caden and me some good books. Well, happy travels Caden, Matt and Cascade... we miss you already! Friday Daddy took off for a fishing tourney in Elk. Mommy and I drove up to spend the day with him and the fellas after a nice walk with James and his folks on Saturday. Daddy caught some fish that were good for fish printing. I did a great blue print of a blue rock fish! I hung out with Levi, Jim, Naoaki and a bunch of other kayak fishers. Levi was showing me how to give a peace sign. I also got to play with Lily who showed me how to move lots of water bottles around and I showed her what fun fish painting could be.
I loved playing in the tent while Daddy tried to get a quick nap... thought I'd grab a few bucks from Dad's wallet while he wasn't looking. I really liked playing basketball in the tent by throwing a tennis ball into the mesh attic. I got pretty good!
Back at home, that night, I clunked my head... again... this time on the night stand, bending over as far as Mommy could tell. Still, I got quite a little knot. Today has been relatively mellow. Mommy and I went to the Sebastopol Farmer's Market in the morning for more peaches. There was a cool booth there that was serving fresh crushed apple juice...really, they crushed gravenstein apples them right in front of us. Free samples with as many refills as I could handle (that is three). Yum!
