Sittin' Pretty!

I have been working so hard at sitting... I almost have it! If someone helps me up, I can set there for a minute or so before getting distracted and toppling over. I like the look of things from here!
Tummy time has also become more fun, I can knock things over and tear up paper now so that's fun. I also have discovered when sitting with Mom or Dad how to toss things on the floor; thank goodness for big brothers who are so exited that I'm doing something fun that he helps me pick up everything!
The folks have had a lot of friends in town again (these meetings keep coming through Portland, they love it... ). They tag-teamed dinners out with pals... Mom had Monday with Dianne, Steve, Gillian, Lori and Charlie. Dad had later in the week with Whitman! Friday we had a wonderful morning visiting with Joaquin, Val and Ray who brought us Bagels. It was so nice of them to come by and bring food and fun, it had been weeks since Owen and Joaquin got to play, and even longer since I got to hang out with Ray who was sweet to me and let me nap on his lap for a bit. Owen and I thought maybe we should get to eat out too... so we convinced the folks and some friends to get to Wongs King for Dim Sum.
What fun to watch. I am sooo ready to try some food sometime soon.
I turned 5 months this week, so I figure I am plenty old enough and reach for things all of the time and am very good at putting things in my mouth, but the folks are planning on holding out just a few more weeks. Anyhow, it was fun to play with Tim, Leslie, Joe, Dan, Robyn, Alice and Henry!
After Dim Sum, we headed home... I was exhausted and totally crashed for hours while Daddy and Owen went to OMSI to play with Benjamin, Cat and Chris.
It was Dad's first time at OMSI and I think he had a good time. Owen was thrilled by the giant giant dinosaur bones (a really good T-Rex skeleton), the rocket ship
and I think he and T had a good time playing chipmunks. Today was fun too! We celebrated Aubry's first Birthday!
There were so many kids there that I had a great time watching all of the kids and Owen had such a great time that he didn't want to leave. He had such a great time that he actually napped after lunch (a rare occurrence) after talking to Grandma Terri on the phone and she suggested that he go to his room and pretend they are reading books together in bed. By the time Mom got off the phone, he was asleep! After his great nap, was my turn, so again I napped while Owen and Mom went out to get some Tart Ice cream with Val, Ray & Joaquin
followed by some fun play time at the park (and a quick shopping jaunt afterwards). We all had a great day enjoying the balmy weather.
Owen made us these shirts for Valentine's day, we finally got a shot of us wearing them at the same time!

Bright bright bright sunshiny days!

Before Grandma Terri left us on Monday, we managed to squeeze in some cupcake baking.
We made some yummy chocolate cupcakes and she left us with all sorts of decorations so Mom and I could frost and decorate them. Although I was most excited about the cupcakes, it really was a great start to the year of the Tiger! First off, when I woke up in the morning, I MADE MY BED all by myself and GOT DRESSED also all by myself... including buttons on my shirt! What's more, I did it all IN THE DARK!!!! Mom and Dad were most impressed by the first two milestones, I was excited that I did it all in the dark. I've made my bed most of the rest of this week too, but now usually with some reminding. So that was pretty darned exciting. To top things off, after Grandma Terri left, Grace ROLLED OVER! YAAAYYY Gracie! She is so good at this now, for the next three days, we couldn't put her down without her immediately rolling over. She even can roll back sometimes now.

Grandma Terri must have done some good training with both of us last weekend. Thanks Grandma! The rest of the week we have enjoyed some serious spring-like sunshine. It has been beautiful. We have had some construction going on in the neighborhood putting wheelchair access ramps on the sidewalks... which means a bunch of cool construction equipment outside the window. I watched the construction, Grace watched me (and the trucks sometimes). Later in the week, Mom, Grace and I joined Daddy and the work crew for lunch at the food carts... It was fun to see Henry, Robyn, Val, Vanessa, Tim and Leslie for some great chow, running around and sunshine in the afternoon. We had some Khao Man Gai which translates to great Chicken and rice. Saturday, Daddy went fishing and brought us home two big ol' steelhead! Yay Daddy! We enjoyed some tonight for dinner. We spent the day playing in the backyard and made an excursion to Mojo Crepes for some ice-cream crepes. After insisting on something with Chocolate the whole way there, I ended up choosing and enjoying Green Tea ice cream! Delish. Messy. Plus there is a huge monkey and a ton of teenagers on the wall there, which was pretty awesome. When Daddy came home he brought his friend Bryce who hung out and made me wild with excitement for the evening. I wound down in time to have my favorite, bean and cheese burritos at Laughing Planet with T. Cat and Chris. Today was again, beautiful, and we spent the morning with Alice, Henry and Robyn. We enjoyed a great breakfast of scrambled egg muffins and bagels followed by squid wrestling, Grace cuddling, a great long walk and Popsicles! Talk about a perfect morning. I worked in the yard with Mom all afternoon and ended up falling asleep after watching a cooking show with Dad... it was crazy, they made silk worm poop tea and an ant salad! I couldn't stop laughing. Dinner was Dad's great fish and I am so tired. What an awesome week and weekend, we are so grateful for the sunshine, friends, fun and milestones!

Gung Hay Fat Choy!

Happy Chinese New Year! Happy Valentine's Day! I hope everyone is welcoming the year of the Tiger with people they love!

I know we did.

Grandma Terri came up for a visit this week! We have been having a great weekend with her...

lots of mellow cuddle time at home as well as some great fun out and about in Portland! Owen and I (and Mom) picked her up from the airport Thursday night. I was a little wary... it had been weeks since we had seen her last, but as soon as I figured out who would be cuddling me, making me laugh and finding my binky for me... I brightened right up when I would see her! Friday we did a little bit of shopping, Owen got some awesome shoes!

I had a great time cruising around the mall and grocery store, I love my new (to us ... Thanks Linda!) stroller! It has been nice to hang out with Grandma, we have such a lovely time when she is hereOwen has really started cracking me up... I can laugh and laugh and laugh at him more than any body else. I am also totally into Scooter and just track him whenever he is moving around in my line of sight. Saturday we started the day off right with some great cinnamon bread. We then headed over to the Yard and Garden Show. Owen got to do a load of playing... it was better than the park, or about anywhere else we could have planned to go for him. He got his face painted like a SNOW LEOPARD! It was soo awesome. After playing on a jungle gym for a long time, he headed over to the boyscouts who helped him explore some tents and camping gear as well as cross this scary rope bridge. But snow leopards are not scared. He also got some girlscout cookies and loads of compliments on his face. He and Grandma finished up play time with a big ol' hotdog. We had a nice time wandering the rest of the show... Mom got more blueberry bushes and some seeds... we are dreaming of spring.

We headed home to work on a great dinner of shortribs! Yum, well, so Owen said... he at as much as the grown-ups! Today we had a quiet morning, enjoying popovers, Valentines day treats, and playing at home. Even though it was quiet, everyone headed down for a nap after lunch. I was exhausted. We woke up and headed out to the Chinese Garden to get a little bit of celebrating in with the rest of Portland!

It was pretty busy, but we didn't have to wait too long to enjoy the Lion dances,

Dragon procession,

awesome scenery in the garden

as well as all of the cool displays they had out for New Years.

Owen made a mask and got to see some of the lions up close, which I can't say that he really appreciated. I thought they were pretty cool though.

He prefers to view from a distance.

The weather held for the most part. Owen and I got our Chinese names written by a calligrapher. I need to send a great big Thank You to Great-Uncle Stephen, Great-Grandma Mary, Sam and John for coming together to pick my Chinese name... 麗 姫 or Li ji it means pretty girl.

This is Owen's Chinese name... 豪 文 Ho wen...

they both turned out cool. We finished up our fun New Years celebration with dinner at the Good Taste Chinese Restaurant down the street, all the big people ate too much, yet somehow managed to save a little bit of room for dessert at home... there's always room for peach pie right! We have had an awesome weekend with Grandma Terri, she gets to stay and cuddle me until tomorrow afternoon, so we still have a bit more play time with her. Sharing love with all of my family and friends! xoxoxoxoxo Grace
