We promise...

We have had the most special weekend! We feel so honored that this weekend we were visited by Great-Grandma Mary, Great-Grandpa Em, Grandma Terri, Grandpa Tom, Uncle Ry and Auntie Becky who all came into town to help us celebrate Grace's baptism.
It was the BEST... kind of a blurr of fun family time.
It was wonderful, Grace and I charmed everyone, we were spoiled silly withgifts (like G.'s new duds? the pink driving mocs are off the hook!), trips for treats for bike rides or to the toy store or park for play time, attention galore,
arms to sleep in,
hugs all around and loads of playtime.
I got my hooks into Uncle Ry the moment he walked in the door...
I may have worn him out a bit, but he was awesome playing with me nearly constantly. I got everyone at some point to go Bug hunting with me and my new bug hunter kit
(complete with a quadrat and a scope to count and examine the bugs).

The baptism itself went well, if not a little loudly as Grace thought it might be interfering with her nap time and wanted to make sure everyone knew about it. Mom and Dad were joined by Uncle Ry and Auntie Becky who all promised to look out for her, along with our family and the whole congregation.
That same group stood up for me a while ago now, we are lucky to have such caring and watchful hearts on our side.

This past Monday, of course, Grace managed to face-plant on the carpet at school while crawling...
resulting in a classy rug-burn on her nose. It luckily largely healed by the weekend though gives her nose a rosy hue in case you noticed, though I think it gets lost in all of the smiles!

Today after church we had a nice, quick brunch before most folks had to take off.

Mom and I had enough time to take Auntie Becky and Great-Grandpa
to the Portland Rose garden which was beautiful!
I saved a lady bug from the fountain and gave her a new home on a rose with a kiss ... that's what super-heroes like Super O! do (cute shirt from/by Auntie).
We still have Great-Grandpa in town and had a nice dinner with him tonight
and will say goodbye tomorrow as he continues his great West coast tour!

Thank you thank you thank you everyone for making this weekend so much fun,
so full of love and so very special for us!

Dad rocks!

Happy Father's Day! Its the first one I get to celebrate with Daddy and it has been lovely. What a great Dad to take such good care of us; he gets up in the night with me to change my diaper and hang out in the rocking chair (quality father-daughter time), he introduced me to Leggos, he gets me and Owen ready for school in the mornings, he makes me laugh, loves us all so much...he is all around wonderful... thank you Daddy!
To start out this week, we bought a new (to us) car! An awesome 2007 prius. Love it! Its red, Val appropriately calls it our Strawberry car! It was a tough few days looking around, but in the end I think the folks are pretty happy.
Later on, our friends Matt, Cascade and Caden came out for a short visit. It was such a great surprise to see them!
Caden and Owen got along so well, as always.
We had a lovely afternoon and morning with them and are always pleased for them to stop by.
We decided Dad could use a little fishing time, which has been sparse since I've been born. Daddy went fishing for most of the weekend, which gave Owen and me some good play time with Mom.
We finished up the strawberries, had a great weekend... we all survived without Dad for mom's first overnighter with both of us. She did okay, the first night I had some serious gas that tested her ability to stay up between 12-2, but otherwise, not bad. Saturday we started out with an awesome play-date and lunch with Val, Esme, Joaquin and Li Fong at their house.
It was fun to crawl around on their floor with Esme and watch Joaquin and Owen have a blast in the sand-box. Li Fong made Owen a super cool flashy seastar bracelet that won him a lot of compliments at the craft fair that we went to afterwards. After fun play time all morning, looking at the art/crafts of other folks, a quick trip to the art supply store to follow up on some inspiration, a visit to a coffee shop for refreshments... we finally made it home, in one piece ate a burgerville dinner and crashed. Pshew! Mom's idea of taking care of both of us is to keep us as occupied as possible. Dad came home this afternoon and after giving him his cool new beer glass and poster, and showing him the cool cards Grace and I made for him, we worked outside on the steps and on putting his camping and fishing gear away. He made a wonderful fish dinner (Mom tried to take him out... too busy) with some great fish he caught... what a way to provide for the family... food!
We are lucky to have so many wonderful Dads in our lives, Happy fathers day to Daddy, Grandpa Tom, Grandpa Steves, Great-Grandpa Em (who we get to see in a week!) and all of the other awesome fathers out there!

waffles, cream, yogurt, agua fresca... all things with STRAWBERRIES!

We have had a super delish strawberry filled weekend!
Friday we went to Kruger's with Joaquin, Val, Esme and Li Fong. We picked up A - LOT of berries. It was a perfect day, not too hot to be picking, no crowds and plenty of yummy berries! Not to hot? Yep, that's right... because the sun finally came out (and it would have been too hot) later that afternoon and has stuck around all weekend! Anyhow, on the way home, we stopped to grab just one more flat of berries from a farm stand... which was good, but then the car wouldn't start back up... which wasn't so good. I grabbed a ride home with Val and co. (THANK YOU SOOO MUCH! I had a great evening and came home so excited to have spent the eve. with our friends) but Mom and Grace had to stick around until Dad came out and the poor volvo got towed home. We're sticking with the bus until things get fixed, but does anyone have a favorite family car variety out there? We're taking recommendations! Saturday whole strawberry crowd came over for some jammin and freezing. It was a busy morning, Joaquin and I helped a little bit and played a lot. Val, Li Fong and Mom processed a ton of berries and we all ate a lot. We had berries with granola for breakfast, with waffles and whipped cream for lunch, plain for a snack, and as agua fresca for dinner, with whipped cream and amaretti cookies for dessert, and plenty of snacks or other breakfasts with yogurt. I think our family alone has eaten nearly a whole flat fresh ourselves already. To add to our food fun this weekend, Dad and I took the truck to pick up our half-pig. I am lovin' it! We've already had some great chops and bacon and have a freezer full to keep us busy. Today was much mellower, Dad and I are working on some steps to overcome the mudslide that currently serves to transition to our yard. Its a work in progress, but we're making good progress!
Grace is seriously cruizing these days, she is an excellent crawler! It's suddenly important to keep her from crawling off our blanket, from getting to all of my art that is often on the floor (she LOVES paper). Its worth it though, she loves the freedom!
