This weekend, well heck, the whole week seemed to sneak right on past us.  It is nice, to be getting more on and off rain and sunshine.  Flowers are blooming, there is more time for bike riding, the sun is still out when we get home.... kind of a hopeful time of year.  I had another great week at school.  Reading is getting better and better and I read at least one book a night to Mom or Dad before being read to.  We just finished the second Harry Potter, so that was pretty exciting.  Lets see... Mom and Grace had a nice quiet Friday morning, Grace had a blast playing with some paint in a bag.  First she mixed it up...
then proceeded to spend a lot of time drawing circles in the paint.

They also went for a nice walk, found some camillas and cherry trees blooming (so sad, the neighbor's amazing cherry tree fell down this winter), practiced on the skuut, found and sorted rocks...

a good kind of day before heading to work to hang with daddy while Mom sat in on a meeting.  It bears mentioning that Grace's newest favorite fashion statement is to wear her jackets... yes her winter poofy, often hooded jackets and vests backwards.  makes her very happy.  I got picked up from WuShu and finished in what has become a typical trip out for a treat (little t... mmmm baguette and butter with jam... plus hot coco this week!).  This weekend was mostly quiet except for a fantastic chili crab dinner with our pals Alice, Henry and their folks!

It was so much fun to hang out and play with our friends for the evening.

The adults really spent most of their time cracking and noshing on Daddy's yummy crab

(recipe via Auntie Gigi... we still use this every year!!).  Alas the evening ended on a sad note... After friends had headed home and while I was in my shower, Dad heard a noise in the backyard and went out to investigate only to find a raccoon had attacked our chickens.  We lost five-toes, my favorite chicken... the only one that was happy to have me pick her up and carry her around (the rest tolerate me), farewell Five-toes.  Summer also got hit pretty hard, but she is out and about... skittish but eating and drinking in spite of an ugly head injury, we're keeping an eye on her too.  Hopefully it was just a one-time thing, but we will be battening down the hatches a bit more for a while.

Today was largely toodling around the homefront, but we had an exciting evening out.  Otherwise, today was just cleaning up the mess, church, hanging around the homefront taking advantage of sunbreaks and eating peanutbutter sandwiches.

As motivation for good behavior at school, the folks have been putting a carrot of my choosing out there... this week I wanted Chinese food... so tonight we celebrated another great week with some great seafood at OM.  My favorite... pepper squid and Grace's favorite... won ton soup.

Flyin' with Grandma!

Happy Valentine's day everyone!  I hope you spent it sharing the love with your friends, family and sweeties.  We had a great day... woke up to some treats from the folks
(new dress by Mom for me, new Dad designed Froggy t-shirt and super cuff for Owen).
We also got some super sweet cards from Grandma and Grandpa Steves, awesome toys from Auntie Donna and clothes from Grandma Terri and Grandpa Tom!  Thanks loved ones for helping make the day extra special.   The fun continued at school!
At the Y we had a special Valentines snack that Daddy got to visit for.
We had a great party complete with cupcakes!!
Though Dad reported that we all mostly just ate the frosting.  Owen had a great day too sharing Valentines with all of his friends at school too!  A little later that week he had a talent show with the Y at his school...
he was a magical wiggly worm and perhaps the only kid we could hear clearly in the auditorium during his play.  The biggest excitement of the week was Friday.
Well it started out super fun, Mom and I met Liam and Vanessa at the Patio and Yard show at the convention center which was super great.  Mom got a few seeds and a new winterhazel bush,
I got to play with Liam in the play-house and on some of the fun equipment they had set up for kids entertainment too.
Afterwards, I crashed in the car as Mom drove over to pick up a special surprise from the airport... Grandma Terri!  YAY!  We got to catch the tail-end of Owen's Wushu class and took ran some quick errands then headed home some books that Grandma brought us (I LOVE Owl at Home, we have read it many times a day this weekend)  for a great burger dinner.
The next day we played around in the morning and took off to Evergreen Air and Space Museum,

home of the Spruce Goose (or Big-birch bird to be more accurate).

  It was pretty cool...

in addition to a whole bunch of planes, there were lots of plane seats... which I really really loved.

You could even buckle in!

We learned a lot, like the "spruce" goose is really made of birch...

, the movie the Avaitor had a bunch of really good models that served as mini sets,  that they filled the pontoons up with beach-balls in case one was punctured it would be "unsinkable"

AND that it flew for a whole 30 seconds before being retired (a one-line flight log)

In addition to being able to see all of the planes,

there were some great activities as well...

There was an artist (who sells his pictures in the shop) giving lessons on drawing planes

that Owen and Daddy took advantage of, they worked hard on their masterpieces and they were pretty great!

After exploring the "Air" part of the museum, we checked out the "Space" building which was also pretty cool...

there was a blackbird, all sorts of space shuttles, capsules, etc.  Most exciting was the airplane merry-go-round.  I went on it while Owen was drawing and felt like this...

"MOMMY!!!"  with a lot of tears and not much happiness... it made an impression and I would relate repeatedly "Airplane up and down... up and down... no like up and down"  though with a little space and time, the story changed more towards how much fun I thought it was.  Owen on the other hand had a blast from the get-go.

Towards the end of our visit we got to set for a lecture from "The airplane guy" who showed us a dozen or so cool paper airplanes then showed us how to fold a great one and then it was tons of airplanes all through the museum!

We got his book signed and then brought it home to work on all of the new plane ideas.

Sunday, Daddy and Owen made a bunch and flew them outside.

We have to work on how to trim them out, but otherwise, they were super fun.

Today Daddy and Owen went to see Starwars in 3D while Mom, Grandma and I had a great girls afternoon.
We did some shopping downtown and caught lunch before heading home (and not napping!).
Grandma and Owen did a puzzle together (100 pieces is obviously not enough of a challenge, we will have to up the atne soon).

We got some Pizza and let Mom and Dad go out for a nice date to the Woodsman and Pix.  We had a great movie night with Grandma.  Thank you so much Grandma Terri for taking such good care of us this weekend!  We had a wonderful visit with you!

Chickens make for entertainment on a quiet weekend

Not too much happening around here this weekend.  Mostly wrangling chickens who need their wings clipped again.

I got my first ever report card... not too bad, a few areas that need work academically but pretty much on target across the board, mostly it seems the teacher thinks I need to use my class leadership qualities for good... with great power and all that.  I am working on it, I said that Grace is helping me hone my responsible leadership (Okay I didn't say hone, but it sounded good).

Friday, Mom, Grace and Liam hung out for a bit.  Chickens escaped, as amusement, Mom put us in charge of getting them back into the coop.  I'm actually pretty good at this, Grace just loves it.

Saturday Dad had to work at the sportsman show  (lots of camo), so we ran errands with Mom.  Grace conked out and Mom and I had a really nice burger at CityState together (with G. asleep on the booth with Mom... the whole time + car trip home).

We made pizza that night, then finished up with a toe-nail painting session!

Today we had Liam and Pearl over in the afternoon and we had a great time playing with a new light-up game that Auntie Donna and Uncle John sent us (it is sooo cool), we made some valentines day decorations, did a 100 piece dinosaur puzzle!

Finally Mom kicked everyone outside for a bit, let the birds out to roam again and put the 2-year olds in charge of rounding them back up with a bucket of scratch and their subtle winning ways!
