Mulch - Woo Hoo!

- Mulch (lots and lots of mulch), great bike ride to woodstock for dinner at pizza roma, and
-my first run with Mom... we made 25 minutes and did a super great job!   About half-way through I was discussing our grande finale..
Me:  "Mom, you know what the professionals do?"
Mom: " Professional what... runners?  they run right?"
Me:  "Yeah, but when they finish they high-five and say "WOO!" and "Nice Job".  I think when we finish we should go have a popsicle on the deck and give each-other high-fives and say "WOO!" and nice job"

Mom:  "That is a great idea, we'll totally do that.... just like the pros."

...and so it was done, very professionally at that.  Mom and I have a tentative date to try to do this every Saturday.  Hopefully we can stick with it, it was lots of fun.
Andy's 4th Birthday party (Happy Birthday friend!!).  It was a great messy art party with this really engaging flubber table at mt scott.

Extra special visit from Coach and Lil!  Had a great dinner, Lil read us brought us some books and read them with us, I showed off my finding waldo skills that we didn't even know I had!  Had a really nice dinner catching up with our friends :)

We Love Books (and sunshine)!

Owen had a big book week at School, so he spent a lot of time thinking about favorite books and characters.  They got to go see a puppet show one evening and on Friday we got to see Owen dressed as Owen (and his fuzzy yellow blanket) parading with his class cheering for their favorite books in class... Tacky the Penguin!
So, Owen and I both are really into Tacky right now, but just as a record of what Owen is reading these days:  Well, his own reading is really quite good, just because they're easy he cruises through a few Bob books at night, and if he's feeling bold, will read a superhero book or so.  He still loves listening to the Jack and Annie Books (Magic Treehouse series), has finished two of the Rick Riordan Series, and the first two Harry Potter books and one of the Redwall books (mom wants to mention how difficult the last was to read).  He is definitely embracing the Alvin Ho series as well.  Me, I always love a good Elephant and Piggie book as well as Owl at Home that Grandma Terri introduced me to and am kinda into dragon books and Fancy Nancy right now too.

Afterwards Liam and I got to have a bit of playground time before picking Owen up.

The Pearl and Liam fun didn't stop there either...

they came over for a fun evening of play-time and pizza!

Each kid got to make a special pizza and eat it all up!  YUM!

This weekend, the weather turned amazing... the sun came out and it was actually WARM!

Owen is getting very good at making Mom's coffee in the mornings.  Maybe we should have planned big exciting things for the glorious weekend but really it was fun to just hang in the yard and the neighborhood for the most part, and enjoy being able to spend the day outdoors.
We did bike over to Alice's house with Mom who joined a bunch of friends for a baby shower.  Alice and Owen worked on their great tree-climbing skills.  While the Moms had a great afternoon celebrating Christina and Ian's impending parenthood.
They made cute little shirts for baby girl, and had a fun time cuddling the little ones that got to go.
JJ is getting so big and Mom was stoked to be able to have some cuddle time with wee little maggie.
Meanwhile, we made our way back home, and got to enjoy our tulips that totally popped.
They practically channeled the sunshine in the evening.
We all got to enjoy a great bbq chicken dinner on the deck.
Today was even mellower... just some errands after church and then enjoying bike riding, hanging out with Julius, eating popsicles staying outside all afternoon.
A pretty wonderful way to spend a sunny day!

Boys Weekend (and a girls weekend!)

Grace and Mom flew down to California this past weekend to attend Auntie Erin's bridal shower, so Dad and I got to stay home and do guy things.  It was pretty low key, we went to the trout pond and did some fishing (but not catching).  At least the weather was pretty nice.

We also went Esme's birthday party on Saturday morning and then my friend Tory's birthday party on Saturday afternoon.   It was just a busy day that I even took a nap between the parties to regain my energy.

Meanwhile, down in California it seem Grace was having lots of fun hanging out with our Grandparents and various Aunties and Uncles.  She flew down with Mommy to celebrate Auntie Erin's Bridal Shower!  We are so excited!

She had a fantastic time hanging out in Auntie Gigi's garden, eating all of her snap peas and strawberries
And taking strolls with Grandpa Tom.  There was a bit of party prep that needed to happen, but mostly just enjoyed the company of family, hanging out in the garden...
eating chocolate (Auntie keeps loads of chocolate in the house, and from the sounds of it Grace and Mom were kept in a steady infusion of the yummy stuff)
They had a nice afternoon out doing some shopping and had a great puerto rican dinner finished up with icing the amazing cake
 and a manicure!  Fancy stuff...

Just as everyone was winding down and tucking in, poor Lola got skunked out front.  It added a fair bit of excitement t the end of the evening.  Grace thankfully stayed in bed through most of it... but Auntie, Grandma and Grandpa took excellent care of Lola (if anyone is in need... Auntie amazingly brought out a potion on a snip of newspaper from 1987 that worked well... liquid soap, baking soda and  a quart of hydrogen peroxide).

Lola came out smelling, well not too bad all things considered and we managed to air out the house and light enough candles that the house was thankfully just fine by morning.

The morning  was spent with a bit of set-up and a lot of visiting!  Auntie Geralyne and Erin came over early and Grace got to hang with the bride to be and hit it off fantastically!
Uncle Jason and Clark stopped by for a bit
, alas Kaylee had a cold so G. couldn't play with her which was sad, we hope she is feeling better!
It was awesome to see Clark though, everyone though he was sooo hansome!
And made Grace smile quite a bit too... must be catching

Grace spent some quality time with Auntie Adrianne and Auntie Maryann

Before heading outside again to make certain there were no more peas left to eat.

The whole afternoon was lovely, and they had a wonderful time enjoying everyone's company, the sunshine,

Auntie Geralyne's stripey jello (I recognized that stuff!, can you believe Grace didn't bring me any home!)
Then, of course there were presents to open
And bridal games were played (dress designers out of toilet paper)

Alas the camera's battery gave out but they had a fantastic trip, really loved being able to celebrate her wedding a bit since we can't make the trip to Hawaii!!!  It will be amazing and awesome and we are so happy for her and for Mike!  Congratulations you guys!  WE all love you!
