Well, it has been a sweet week so far... lots of super great treats.

Grace and Mom picked me up after my last day of WuShu... it was tough, but pretty cool!  We headed over to Cloud City again...

I tried the Sherbet, mom was sooo happy with the blackberry-lime and grace loved her chocolate!

I am apparently pretty popular among a few special gals at school and some of our exchanged friendly pictures have escalated to proper love notes...

My friend P. at school, with whom I have extensive wedding plans sent these... one practices math,

and in the other she is Jem (outrageous!).
This weekend has been fun, sweet and practical...

Fun:  We got to go to see a play, courtesy of Grandma and Grandpa Steves... Thanks guys!.
Can you believe they made "If You Give A Mouse A Cookie" into a cool play!?  It was pretty great... we got a cookie,

and saw the play...the actors were hilarious!

It was such a treat to go as a family and we had a really lovely afternoon.

On the way back we stopped and grabbed some pudding, but are most excited about the cookie that we will get from Grand Central later this week.
Speaking of sweet...
Cousin Erin and Mike got married this past week and though we couldn't share in the wedding itself, we are so happy for them and are celebrating with them in our hearts!

Practical:   For much of the rest of the weekend, we have been doing some shopping, getting food and the house together for a big (weather permitting) memorial day bbq at our house... It has been busy, but good to kinda get some stuff together, cleaned up... the grown-ups needed some giggles and lightening up, which Grace is very good at.
So... happy wedding to the happy couple and Thank you to our service men and women!

Pumpkin head super hero... that's how I roll people.

Silly faced radish eater....that's how Owen rolls.

Had a great weekend...

Started with a nice Friday with Mom... Looking for family to face-time with (Grace's favorite past-time)

 enjoying the sunshine a bit,

 running errands.  \

After picking Owen up from school an wu shu, we grabbed a cone at our new favorite ice cream joint... Cloud City!

Excellent after-school snack place.

we followed up a super amazing art-show at Owen's school.

 (Owen's was the top goldfish)

(and the bottom right purple flower...

oil pastels (new favorite medium) and water colors)
I really loved seeing all of the clay and paintings that the students had put together.

We also got our faces painted,

which was so very exciting!
very exciting.....

Saturday we hit the farmer's market for a lovely morning, ran into our friends Alice and Henry.  We had a nice walk, and spent the rest the day cleaning house and fussing around the yard.

Today though... today was rare!  I mean, in what world does a 2-year old get to DRIVE a BACKHOE!!!! Seriously?  Owen had mentioned such happenings before, but it was real and so very cool!  We had a great time, met up with Andy and Alex on and off.  I got to DRIVE, did I mention that?  Owen really got into it this year and actually popped a wheelie, it was pretty cool.

Speaking of rare... it was rainy, cloudy... not actually uncommon in Portland, but we were bummed 'cause we were looking forward to the eclipse... got the cool glasses and everything.  Turns out things cleared up just enough for us to get a view of it.  So cool... Owen was shouting his excitement to the whole neighborhood. The dogs were all going nuts.  It was pretty fun!

Because the sun was behind the clouds we actually were able to take a photo of the partial eclipse.

mmmmmmMother's Day!!

Happy Mother's day to all of the wonderful Moms in our lives... you are SPECTACULAR!
Our sunshiney weekend has been pretty fun.  We started with Mom's favorite plant sale in Woodstock to try to get some more beauties for under our tree out front, things from there, just seem to do better!  Mom took off for an afternoon at Crafty wonderland while we played at home with Dad, and walked too Ottos for hotdogs... yum!  When we all got back together, we headed to Uwajamaya for fixins for a sushi dinner for Mother's day and Oooooo what an extra special treat...

cream puffs at the new Beard Papa's that opened up.
So tasty, Mom's favorite was the hazelnut filling... so good.
Mom was nearly giddy with the prospect of cream puffs... Grace and I soon figured out why....
We spent as much time as possible outside, flying new planes, messing around in the garden.

Today we woke up and headed up to Mt. Tabor for the Run Mama Run fun run with Val, Joaquin, Esme, Ray and Mrs. Furth.  It was great!

Grace, Esme, Joaquin, Kai and I did the shorter kid's fun run this time
and let the Mamas tackle the volcano on their own (Val (10K!!) and Mom (5K).).

(That's me cheering Mom on as she ran by!).  They did a great job in spite of the hot sunshine in spots,

and we had a blast with the playground and all of the kids activities and the Dads and Grandma.

Mom got a well deserved back-rub afterwards

and we headed back down the hill to Joaquin and Esme's house for a wonderful brunch.
There were perfect scrambled eggs with morels, smoked salmon and asparagus (amazing!) and Mom brought some raspberry scones that were pretty delish too.

A great morning spent with our dear friends, some exercise, yummy food and lots of play-time!
This evening Dad started working on staining the deck,

we played outside until it was so hot we had to come in!

Dad rolled sushi for a special Mother's day dinner for us.
Happy Mother's day all!

Love you to the moon and back!
