10 years

We are trying to make the most of these beautiful golden autumn days.  The sunshine has held this week, so we've had another good haul from the garden.  Those beautiful sunflowers are still shining along, and giving us loads of seed heads for the chickens over the next few months.
Mom keeps making us go outside... I think she wants to take advantage of it while she can!

So there has been lots of playing, swords, capture the spiders, making fairy houses, making magic dust out of ground up sidewalk chalk... we manage to keep busy.
and have had some really lovely dinners outside too...
Mom and Dad celebrated 10 years of marriage on Friday.  Our most amazing friends took me and Grace in for a night and we had the best time playing with our Joaquin and Esme... THANK YOU so very much Val, Ray and LiFong!
The folks got to spend a few hours at the climbing gym.  Having not been in a harness for almost seven years, they didn't do too badly.
And got to follow up with a fantastic dinner at Le Pigeon where they stuffed themselves silly on all sorts of fantastic dishes including a yummy rabbit and eel terrine and fancy fois gras profiterole.  They haven't had such a night to themselves in a looong time and had a blast together.
Saturday after our super wonderful sleep over, we headed to church to help make back-packs to fill with school supplies and send to the world relief program.  Dad and I were exceptionally good at threading the cord, I think we got on the hook to do all of them, which isn't really too bad.
I got to model them in church today!  They got 40 cut out and over a quarter of those sewn up... all with at least four kids (us) and a dog running around... not too bad for a few hours.
Mrs. Morelli was instrumental in keeping us from going too stir crazy.
Until Dad finally took us outside to play in the play-yard.
After all that play-time, much of the rest of the weekend was dedicated to cleaning out the garage and the shed, and playing outside as much as possible.
Taking Scooter on a much overdue walk.
and enjoying the best Tomato Beef Chow Mein dinner ever... Dad did a fantastic job on this classic meal in honor of  the moon festival
September has been pretty glorious, Happy Autumn!

Growing up!

Yep, I am three!  My favorite colors are pink and purple, classic.  I love minnie mouse, princesses, dresses, cheerios, pita & hummus (my tastes haven't progressed much), pizza, and hotdogs.  I am hungry more than I am not, and love playing "I'm the mommy".  My favorite books right now are of the Curious George genre.
Speaking of growing-up, my big ol' first grader brother lost his front tooth at school.  As the story goes... "We were working and my friends said that I was bleeding all over, so I got a tissue and as I was cleaning up all the blood, my tooth fell out".  We got to go to Owen's open house this week too.  Here is his self portrait, you'd think with all of the time he spends practicing his faces in the mirror, he'd notice he has brown eyes... but otherwise, pretty good for a six-year-old.
His class looks pretty exciting, lots of activities and little corners of learning all over.
We cleaned out the compost bin, to start putting the garden to bed for the winter (only kinda, the kale is lush and the sunflowers just are not quitting), Owen and I did a great job "saving" all the worms for the new bin.
I had a very special day at school!  It was an all about Grace day!  I got to bring in pictures, my favorite book (Curious George and the Fire fighters) favorite toys (Elmo doll and a princess doll) and tell everyone all about myself.
It was so much fun to celebrate with my friends at school.

and share cupcakes for my birthday!
This Saturday was my big day... THREE!  Daddy picked up a bunch of balloons and I got to open
loads of amazing presents from my sweet family and friends.
so many new fun things to wear, read and play with!
I immediately got down to the business of serious play-time, to get me warmed up for my hot-dog party! I mean birthdays are pretty fun and all, but to be able to celebrate with my friends... that's awesome!
Add hot-dogs and cake to the mix and ... wow.
I'm feeling pretty lucky to be able to spend so much fun time with everyone, and surrounded by so many friends.  I think I'll wish for it all to continue!

and for an extra slice of chocolate cake (the icing was the kicker),
 I loved the frosting.
In spite of a chilly couple of days, the sun came out and gave us an amazing day for playing outside and enjoying a cookout.
complete with messy chocolate faces (and teeth :)
as well as the requisite spin in the spinney chair.
I've grown a fair bit since 2... and seem to be about a half inch or more taller than Owen at 3.
But... the fantastic cookouts didn't stop with my fantastically fun birthday party  (pronounced birt-way).  We got to spend this afternoon at Pearl and Liam's home.
We made some fun bird-feeders (or liam feeders... he liked the peanut butter!)
but still managed to share some with the birds!
Their new drum set was sooo cool!

and I managed to "make movies" for everyone's entertainment.  It was another lovely afternoon.  Feeling so lucky to be surrounded by friends, beautiful sunsets at dinner time, sunflowers towering, warm afternoons and cool nights.  Three is going to be pretty great.

Makers

So, first grade is getting off to a fine start.  I am reading more, though seem pretty tired by the time Mom picks me up.  We have had some nice afternoons this month, just the two of us, which has been fun... her classes start in a week, so we'll make the most of it.  Grace has started opening a few birthday presents.
She is over the moon with the princess figures and suit-case and Auntie Donna and uncle John never forget me... I have been having a blast with this cool remote control ATV.
Made a bunch of stuff this week, in our sunny afternoons.  Mom and I made a pretty wonderful bug village, a little one at school and a more elaborate one at home.
Friday, Mom and Grace made some applesauce from the Gravenstiens we picked up last week.
This weekend, I made an advanced request for a special breakfast... puff pancakes.  I helped put all the fruit and powdered sugar together.

They were pretty yummy!
Grace found my dinosaur costume and was loving it!
That afternoon we headed over to see Alex and Andy and their folks!  It has been way too long since we have visited with them.  It was Alex's birthday!  Happy Birthday Buddy!
Alex is getting pretty big!

and I had a blast playing with Andy's fire-engine and having such a fun day with my friends
It was tough for all of us to leave.  BUT G. needed to rest and Dad and I headed over to Chris' to help him with his patio (I was very helpful with sand and gravel) And to brew some beer.
They let me run the mill this time!   Today at Church I got to help out with communion and was very good at helping with the wine.  Afterwards, we headed over to the mini-Maker's fair at OMSI.  It was pretty awesome.  Loads of activities for all of us!
I got to pedal power this cool spinny paint gizmo and make some awesome art.
and helped Grace with hers as well.
We got to make really amazing electronic instruments with conductive copper tape and a synthesizer on someone's computer.
we also made pretty awesome bugs with LED light eyes and all sorts of electronic parts.
They are still blinking crazily in our rooms.
Grace painted a board that will be used in a bird-house display.
We witnessed several pumpkins and a watermelon being launched with this trebouchet (see the flying watemelon near the top?)  Pretty fun to see a watermelon flying over the city skyline.
So Dadddy and I worked on putting together a paper rocket that we launched.

It exploded fantastically upon launch.  Impressive and fun!
I am so glad the Maker Fair came to Portland, we had a great time!
