She blinded me with science!!

So this was a big week... I turned six! Six has found me in Kindergarten.  Although I still gravitate to Pink and Blue, when asked, I say I love all of the colors, especially black and grey because they are interesting.  When I grow up I want to be a Doctor... to help people and because I am totally fascinated with innards.  I love Kindergarten, though remain quiet/shy sometimes, I have already made some great friends.  I love copying my brother, and he tolerates it reasonably well... and I LOVE a party.
Owen generously put together a science kit for me from his own precious stash, I loved it!
and then I added it to the Chemistry kit Uncle Ry sent... Thanks!  We have already gone through several of the experiments this weekend!
I came home from ballet to a beautiful bouquet from Great auntie Gigi, and a ton of wonderful other things to wear and read and play!  Thank you sweet family and friends for making turning Six so special!

Owen really got to start as part of the safety patrol and has been getting up early to make sure that all of the kids get to school safetly !  The joys and responsibilities in fourth grade are working well for him.
We got to see all of his work at back to school night, where he did a great job showing us his entire classroom.

I also got a turn to show off my classroom, especially our turtle Gump.
 and all of our books!

A lot of my excitement this week was building up to my birthday party.  It was a real treat to get friends from so many parts of my life together.  My bestie from Preschool, my wonderful and fun family friends, and my new friends from Kindergarten!  We had a super awesome Science Party!
Lots of activities were planned, including a pH art project
of course, safety gear for all...
Dad helped us put together toothbrush robots.

and we made flubber... with glitter glue to make it extra sparkly and fun!

Owen helped lead us all in lots of bubbly, foamy fun.  First of course, baking soda and vinegar explosions.

Owen did a mentos and soda demonstration for all of us

And for my birthday this year, I wanted ice-cream sandwiches (Auntie donna style)  They were a big hit!

To chill out, after all of that research, creation and fun,  Val kindly read us a mad-scientist story
and pshew!  You would that that would do it for the day, but we actually cleaned up pretty quickly, and Owen and I got out my new chemistry set and got to work making salt crystals.

We were lucky to have such a beautiful day to spend with our wonderful friends.
Of course playing with flubber just gets more fun...
Dad's convinced with the sparkly pastel that we have recreated unicorn boogers pretty accurately.
Today we headed over to the Woodstock Farmer's market for the first time this season (before the season is over!)
Mom thinks this is the exact look Uncle Ryan gives her, often.
he also practiced riding without his hands and claims he was better during bike camp but still can make it a little ways hands free.
Mom working hard waiting for us to finish racing.  She got the story of the buddy bench from Owen.  If you are on the play-ground and want to play with people, but are alone, you sit on the buddy bench, and other kids will see you sitting there and come over to sit with you or ask you to play!  Owen says K-2 kids pile up on the bench sometimes, but the bigger kids don't use it as much.  Still, a pretty sweet idea.
With my birthday comes fall.  It is super special because that's how Mom and Dad told Owen what my birthday would be... when the leaves started to fall from the tree.  This week our first bright red and yellow leaves started drifting down.  Happy Autumn!
We snuck out in our pajamas to see the super moon, lunar eclipse!  It's hard to get a real photo with our camera but it was fun treking up the hill to hang out with the neighbors admiring the red moon!

Happy Autumn and lunare eclipse all!  It was a pretty perfect weekend.

Mom just got word that her Uncle Teddy passed away, and is a bit sad, though he had a long and magnificent life.  He was a discerning guy, much like Great-Grandpa Jerry with a great smile and great love for his community.

Happy Birthday, Grace! It looks like a wonderful and exciting science birthday party. Pretty special that you were able to top off the weekend with the lunar eclipse! Enjoy being six.
