must be almost summer!

There is a lot of excitement as school approaches the end of the year!  I remain super excited that I have finally learned how to skip two on the monkey bars, and can't wait for first grade!
Owen has his science fair this week where he and A presented their project... to determine which types of soils grew the best plants.

They did a great job, worked really well together and had some pretty fantastic illustrations!
Mad Science was also there and in addition to getting to play with dry ice and all sorts of fun things, Owen got to participate in a demo on the power of air pressure!

The guys enjoyed a (non-science) play date also when we finally got to the weekend.  We are so happy to have a nice long weekend, and are grateful to those who have given their lives to protect ours.
Owen was a bit disappointed in the waffles Mom and Dad made (though they were actually yummy!) on Saturday, so he woke early on Sunday to make everyone puff-pancakes for breakfast!  They were also actually so yummy!  What a treat!
After the pancakes we headed out to Kruger farm and picked a nice full flat of strawberries!

Everyone was gung-ho for the first flat, but sort of pooped out after that so we bought another one and called it a morning.

Plus we had to get home in time to relax a bit before the play-date with Esme!  E and I played at home and made a big fort in the living room, scooted all around the block while O and J (and the Moms) went to the Lumberyard.

They biked for two hours until they were sweaty beasts.  Finally, they were lured away from the track fairly exhausted, with a snow-cone treat.
which seemed to renew their energy a bit.
All in all a great weekend so far!

Party time!

Happy Weekend!  Although we had a week of sunshine and bike rides, the rain came back in time for the weekend.  We had a big field trip to the Oregon Trail Museum which was awesome, and I now, in addition to becoming very good at the game Oregon Trail, have all sorts of interesting tidbits like how sometimes they would have to drink pee and how much bacon should be packed for a family of 4.  Grace's class got their field trip to the zoo.  Dad got to go too so she has lots of pictures.
They had a great and sunny day
and saw all of the animals...

it was a big day at he zoo!
She even got to see the baby elephants swimming in their new pool.

Today we had back-to-back-to-back fun.  Grace got a play-date with Esme,

while I went to Benjamin's birthday party!  We had a blast playing with ALL the legos.
We went straight from there to Andy's roller skating birthday party!
Pshew!  We skated for over two hours until we were sweaty pools.

Grace had a blast with Ellie and they were good buds all afternoon.
Plus it was awesome to celebrate with Andy turning 8!

So... Happy Birthday to our dear friends, and a wonderful end of May to everyone!

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day to all of the wonderful Mother's in our lives.  We had a lovely weekend.  Saturday we got out of the house early and hit the Woodstock Plant sale, a big favorite of Mom's.  We came home with a full trunk of plants and Dad and Owen got them all planted while Mom took me to our dress rehearsal for Rapunzel, coming in a few weeks.

It was great because she has not been able to go to my classes so this was a fun surprise to be able to watch.  We are bluebirds from the forest.
I LOVE our long tutus and sparkley leotards.

Later in the afternoon, we went over to Esme and Joaquin's house to meet Leon, their new pup!
He loved chasing Owen around and we all managed to get him riled up several times
before he crashed out with some much needed puppy rest.
Esme and I did all of the different ballets we could think of while Leon snoozed.
Today is Mother's day!  I made mom a beautiful berry card that said "i love you berry much" on the inside... get it... Berry!!  We also planted the flowers that I gave her.  Owen made her LOTS of cards, all wonderful and one with a sweet enough poem to make her cry a bit.
He also got her a candle he made on his Oregon Trail field trip and a beautiful mug made by Aiden's Dad.  Our dad got her a new Yoga mat and made all sorts of amazing food all day long!  We kicked it off with homemade sourdough english muffins topped with a smoked salmon and asparagus eggs benedict (favorite!!),   Dinner was yummy homemade pizzas with artichoke, asparagus and sausage.  SO yummy!  We got a lot of the back yard sort of in order and the front yard now shows some serious promise.  Mom got to go to Yoga in the afternoon, and we wrapped up the day with some family games of Catan and Slamwich.  Just wonderful!
Again, we wish you all a wonderful mother's day.  Most especially Grandma Terri, Grandma Steves and Great-Grandma Mary.  You amazing women are such an inspiration and fill our hearts every day.  We love you so much!
