Artsy Smartsy!

Our week has been chock full of art and partying!
We kicked the weekend off with Art night at school, I got to hang out with my friends (and get our faces painted :)
Then got to show off my art to my folks!

And Owen even had some pretty cool art on display

The big news was that Owen and I both won the dumpling festival poster design contest for our grade brackets!  We get some cool goody bags at the festival plus our posters were copied and up ALL OVER the school!

Mine is the talking dumpling and Owen's is the dragon!

We harvested a few scraggley overwintered carrots as we were cleaning up the garden on our sunny weekend!

Owen started his science project for the science fair at school... it involves testing different tempering methods and temperatures for chocolate.
Today, we had birthday parties galore!  I got to celebrate Tommy's birthday and hang with my school chums at Chuckie Cheese!  My friend Lola and I dressed similarly and managed to earn the exact same amount of tickets!
Owen got to hang with his buds and celebrate Ellie's birthday at the roller rink... one of his favorite birthday activities!
Happy birthday friends and we wish you a great May!

Love is in the air

We headed down to CA for a quick trip to celebrate the wedding of Jenna and Austin!
But first this week, I started basketball which is pretty fun.
Grace was goofin' with her friend at after care
We did miss a day of school and flew down to Grandma and Grandpa's house.  We always love visiting.  Our first day, we did have to get up crazy early, so we took it easy, saw a great Movie, Born in China, which was a beautiful way to celebrate Earth Day. Had a great afternoon relaxing a bit (and eating ice-cream).   It was perfect weather, sunny, warm, and great for hanging out at Vintage days at Fresno State.
Our most exciting was the giant hamster balls that Grace and I got to race in.

They were a little warm, but Awesome!

After we got everyone cleaned up in the afternoon, we got ready to go to the wedding.
It was at a cool ranch right on the San Joaquin River.  We saw a lot of our Christmas friends, which seemed unseasonal in April, but so great to catch up with them and visit in a new context!
There was the river, lots of open space and lots of trees to run around for us!  The ceremony was so beautiful, just perfect.  Harry presided (which came with a lot of poignant laughs) and they couple wrote their own vows and they were just right.

Grandma photobombed my selfie, it's our favorite picture of the evening!

We got a quick picture opportunity with the happy couple, I took the picture myself!

Grace was a beast on the dance floor with a pretty impressive robot that she could make work for any song.
She went strong for the entire rest of the evening, and when it was time to go, she crashed before leaving the driveway!
Grandpa Tom got Mrs. Mayeda (a retired ballroom dancer) out on the dance floor to cut a rug as well.
In exchange for a little bit of phone-time after a long evening, I even danced a whole dance (who knew three minutes could be so long) with Mom!
We are so honored to be able to celebrate with these wonderful friends who are family.  Thank you for letting us be included as witness, to surround you with our love as you begin this part of your lives together!  We wish you joy and the very best this world offers Austin and Jenna!!

Happy Easter!

I got to start this week with my favorite day in Ballet... Costume day!! We get to try on our costumes for the ballet Beauty and the Beast... we are shiny forks!
We are pretty excited with the sparkles and super metallic leotard!
Owen and Scooter continue their evening dance where Owen tries to read and Scooter tries so very very hard to get his attention.
Oh, and on Friday we got some hail, but it sort of cleared things out for a beautiful weekend!

We were really excited to get ready for Easter this weekend, and spent Saturday morning cleaning up the yard and dying eggs!

One of my favorite parts is after we dye the eggs, the folks got a tray with baking soda together and let me at it with the dye (with vinegar) and some droppers to make fizzy pictures.

We woke up this morning so excited to celebrate Easter!  We started with much excitement and a good egg hunt!

In addition to loads of candy, new runners for me and Owen, the Easter bunny hid loads of cascarones outside... out favorite!!  Much of the rest of the day was spent stalking Dad to see if we could get him with a confetti egg!

At Church, we got to do loads to welcome back release the Alleluias, including a parade and percussion support for the choir
This afternoon was quieter as the clouds returned after a sunny Saturday.  To warm things up, we made a little campfire (Owen is getting good with a flint and steel), so we could roast our peeps.
To get the smoke out of our clothes (and of the house) we went for a nice long scoot with Scooter and had a great afternoon at he park (and dodging Mom using her secret stash of cascarones!)

 Happy Easter to everyone!
